Kendall chose to do her self-selected research project on the Andrea Doria, which is an interesting topic by itself, but being able to bring in the actual bell from the ship that sank off the coast of Nantuckett, Massachusetts, in 1956, was icing on the cake. Accompanying the bell, were two men, Harold Moyers and John Moyer, who have been diving the Andrea Doria wreck for years. John Moyer was part of the team, led by Bill Nagle in 1985, that actually brought the two hundred pound brass bell up from the depths of the Atlantic.
So after Kendall did an outstanding job presenting her project complete with slides and videos, the students were given the opportunity to engage with these two men, by asking questions, and of course everyone wanted to touch the bell. But then again, who can blame them?
