The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District Special Education Department is creating a special education parent support group to provide families with education, resources, and enhanced partnerships with the school district. The group will be called U-PRISE: Unionville- Parent Resources and Information for Special Education. The group will be a place for parents/guardians of students with special needs to share ideas, network with community resources, ask questions, seek advice, and learn more about special education processes. U-PRISE will meet regularly during the school year to share information, discuss programs, host guest speakers, collaborate with administrators, and network. U-PRISE’s mission is to serve as a voice for students with disabilities and their families in order to promote positive outcomes for UCFSD students.
We are currently looking for a small group of UCFSD parents of special education students to serve on the advisory committee. This group will work together to ensure the best possible educational experience for all children through increased parental support, education, and involvement.
If you are interested in being a member of the U-PRISE advisory committee to help plan meetings, manage resources, lead sub-committees, schedule speakers, etc. please contact Shannon Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-347-0970 X3377 to receive further information. We would like the first advisory committee meeting to occur on July 20, 2016 at 3pm in room 14 at the UCF District Office, which is the building attached to the high school.
We are very excited to start the Unionville Parent Resources and Information for Special Education group! We look forward to developing a stronger partnership with our special education families and the community to empower our students to succeed in life and contribute to society.
