The U.S. Department of Education is coming to Charles F. Patton Middle School

The U.S. Department of Education has selected Patton Middle School as one of the 11 PA schools being featured as part of it's Green Strides Tour. Patton earned the distinction of a Green Ribbon School in 2015 and since then has continued to develop it's innovative Programs

The Green Strides Tour helps showcase innovative practices of safe, healthy, and sustainable school environments; nutrition and fitness; and environmental education, including STEM, civics, and green career pathways.

The 2016 tour theme is "Real-World Learning" and will bring focus to how top PA schools teach effective environmental education through authentic learning, helping students learn higher-order thinking skills, collaboration and problem-solving. These types of skills are essential to our student's success in life and prepares them for careers.

Officials from the U.S. Department of Education will be joined by state and local officials as well as the business partners who have helped to create these wonderful programs.

Teachers and students will guide visitors on a tour where they will learn about the school's many technologically advanced and environmentally friendly programs.

The real world learning opportunities provided to Patton Middle schoolers range from hands on projects in classrooms to STEM projects and the integration of innovative technologies, below is a partial list.
