On Saturday, March 11, the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association held its annual Eastern Region Orchestra Festival at West Chester East High School. Students in this ensemble previously made District Orchestra, and on the strength of their reaudition were invited to perform at the Regional level. Three Unionville-Chadds Ford musicians were members of this select group: Casey Jennings on french horn, Michael Dirnberger on clarinet, and Adam Kimmel on viola. The culminating concert featured music normally heard at the Academy of Music. Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 is a looming giant in the orchestral repertoire, known for its level of difficulty, not only in performance, but also in emotional complexity. This year's Regional Orchestra rose to the challenge and left the audience with an unforgettable experience.
The Unionville-Chadds Ford community is very proud to count these three fine artists as their own! Please join us in congratulating Casey, Michael and Adam on their tremendous accomplishment.
